Sisyrinchium angustifolium, commonly known as Blue Eyed Grass, is a perennial plant found in various wet habitats throughout Florida. Its delicate, star-shaped blooms attract a diverse range of pollinators, such as bumblebees, sweat bees, and native flies. The plant also serves as a food source for birds and beneficial insects, including sweat bees, bumble bees, bee flies, and syrphid flies. Syrphids are known for their voracious appetites!!
Its low profile makes it ideal as a groundcover. Thrives in dry conditions and partial shade. For optimal growth, plant in full sun and moist soil. Prolific self-seeder, solitary plants typically do not produce viable seeds. Spreads via underground rhizomes.
